Surf the Web for more than about five minutes and you'll start to recognize a pattern: there are a small number of great sites that do fantastic things... and a very large number of me-too sites that try to make money by doing the exact same thing.
Now I'm not saying there's anything wrong with those me-too sites. I'm all in favor of competition and sometimes a me-too site can offer features that improve on the original. They might make less money than the original but even if they only make a fraction of the first site's income, that can often be enough for the copycat site's owner.
But when you come up with a brand new idea, you can really clean up.
I've just launched a new site: http://www.500words.com/. The idea is very simple. I've put 500 words on a page and publishers can sponsor a link from that word to their site. The links stay up for two years, give traffic and provide a novel experience for both visitors and sponsors. For a slightly larger fee, publishers can also add their own keywords.
Within three days, 300 of the original words had been sold. I've also been inundated with requests for the script I used to create the site.
I didn't sell those words because they were particularly valuable. I sold them because the site had created a buzz -- and that's what happens when you create a new idea online.
The Web is a very gossipy world. Whenever something new and exciting happens, word gets around very, very fast. Links are posted, emails exchanged and people start asking each other if they've seen your site. In no time at all, you've got more traffic than you could have possibly imagined. That viral marketing is the real power of the Internet.
Coming up with innovative ideas isn't that hard. The idea for 500words.com was inspired by MillionDollarHomepage.com. I saw what I liked about that site, recognized where it was weak and came up with a whole new idea. I didn't put up another sponsored pixel site -- no one would have been interested in that -- I produced something new.
As you're surfing the Web, ask yourself what new ideas you can come up with. Make it exciting and innovative, and you'll generate a ton of interest.

You've no doubt heard a lot about social media, and how great it can be as an online marketing tool. If used correctly, that's absolutely true. There are several steps you can follow in order to use social media as an effective part of your affiliate marketing strategy.
First, pick a niche you want to enter into. You want to pick a large enough niche that you will have an audience for your products or services, but not one that's so large that it's oversaturated. If the niche is too saturated, your site will get lost in the stream of content that already exists for that niche.
Now you need something to sell to your niche. If you can create a product or service of your own that would appeal to your niche, that's the best thing to do. If not, there are plenty of great affiliate programs out there that can help you to bring in some income without creating a product of your own.
Now, take some time, and give yourself a social media presence. Create a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a YouTube account related to the niche you are entering into. Each account should have a name directly related to the niche you're entering into. Take some time to consider the name of each account carefully, and while you're doing this, start thinking about potential names for a website.
The next step is to create a website. You'll want to register your own.com domain name, rather than a.net, or.org. The domain name should contain keywords directly related to your niche, so take some time and think carefully about what to call your new site. Generally speaking, it's a good idea to run a blog rather than a site that won't be updated frequently. Search engines favor sites with frequent updates, and blogging software tends to be very SEO friendly.
Once your new site is up it's time to bring it all together. Start using your social media accounts to promote your website. Post links to your content on Facebook and Twitter, and make videos relevant to your niche to post on YouTube. Update your social media accounts, and your blog frequently, and you'll start seeing a good amount of traffic in no time. As your traffic grows, you'll get more attention to your affiliate programs, and as such, you'll generate more revenue.

If you want to succeed in your SEO or any other business online, it is important that you know the effective ways about social media optimization. Below are some of the tips to help you market you prevent the risks of facing some of the most common social media marketing failures.
• List down all the things that you want to accomplish using your marketing strategy. Some of the things that you may want to include in your objectives are networking, SEO, customer relations, branding, and so many others.
• Always reach out for your target audience. Think like the way your target market does. What are they looking for and most importantly what do they want the most.
• Always give content that has the quality that they want. And see to it that you do it consistently. Consistent quality content is the key to help your social media marketing successful especially when it comes to search engine optimization.
• Do not give more time to marketing. Instead spend more time focusing on your content. If you would give high quality content, you do not have to try hard marketing because it will already do the work for you. You would be surprised to know how your website would become popular simply because you have the right content.
• Never abuse the power of optimization. With the right social media marketing strategies, sooner or later you will become part of the highest rankings in search engines. However, if you over-optimize it would actually do more harm than good in your website. Search engines are now doing some actions on sites who over optimize to prevent it from manipulating the results given by the search engines.
• Instead of giving a link to your site's homepage, link to your About Me section so that they would know more about you first and your website.
• Include resources in your link. People would get tired if they would see that you are promoting your own website again and again. Look for websites that are relevant to yours and include it in your content. Do not even hesitate to include the links of your competitors as well. You might be surprised to know that this can actually be a great way to start networking and interlinking which is very essential in any new website.
• Create a good social network with the other website owners. Those who are in the same niche as yours may be your competitor but it actually does not matter when it comes to marketing social media. They can be your partners by exchanging links, joining online ventures together, and so many more possibilities. Other than exchanging links, you can also exchange comments at the same time.

Social Media Marketing Plan
By Simon J. Maselli
Do you know how to Leverage your social media marketing plan to maximize your business exposure to the internet?
Social networking is the latest revolution in online advertising and it continually surprises me how few leverage its potential. It is relatively simple to set up and once you reach critical mass, the results from social media marketing are awesome.
Read on to find steps on setting up your social network.
1. Set up a business page on Facebook. This is relatively simple to achieve. Sign up to Facebook and set-up a personal page. You would then set up your social media marketing page by establishing either a group or a page. My personal recommendation is to set up your social media marketing plan as a page. Complete as much information in the business information tabs as possible and remember to link back to your main website.
2. Set up a profile on twitter. Go to the Twitter home page and select "New User". Twitter is currently the fastest growing community on the internet. Complete the relevant information and verify your account. The next step is to search twitter for users interested in similar ideas as your business. There are a number of options you can target your social media marketing prospects, from your contacts lists to keyword searches. Take your time and add as many new contacts as time permits.
3. Visit LinkedIn and make a new profile. Linked in often gets users searching for individuals/business for work so it is key to make sure that you completely fill out the details required for a complete profile. This will leverage your social media marketing opportunity and ensure your LinkedIn prospects know what you are about.
4. Join Digg and begin to submit the pages of your website to the Digg Community.
5. Join StumbleUpon and submit pages from your website. This is one of the largest source of traffic early in your websites development and it is important that you maximise the power this resource has to offer to leverage social media marketing.
6. Add buttons to your website that will enable you to link from your website to each of these to your Social networking profiles. there are widgets and banners available at each of the Social Network Marketing sites that you can simply cut and paste into your website to Leverage the Power of this Medium
If you follow these 6 steps to Social Media Marketing you will be well on your way to leveraging the power of this marketing strategy.

In order to market your products and services in this "New World", you must build relationships. Social Media Marketing (SMM) gives you the tools to accelerate this relationship building, but does not completely replace person to person marketing, where building relationships is also the key to growing your business, increasing your sales and maximizing your profits.
I have created a simple formulas for "Building Relationships" online and offline. This acronym was created with the help of one of my Social Media University students, Joe Garafolo, who realized that the three steps that I outline for building relationships spelled out this simple acronym. The acronym helps me program my students to remember how to build relationships.
In order to build relationships you must fill up your marketing efforts with G.A.S.
- First: Give away your knowledge.
- Second: Answer Questions
- and Third: Solve problems
If you think about it, why do people search Google and enter your web site? Because they are either looking for knowledge and/or questions, or they are trying to solve a problem they currently have. Can you think of any other reason they visit your web site? Don't answer... it's a pronounced "no". They come to the web or your web site looking for G.A.S. Your job is to pump the G.A.S.
Finally, when trying to figure out what to update (write) on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or any other Social Media Marketing engine, remember to write something that "Builds Relationships". Write something that shows your expertise and knowledge and helps the reader gain that knowledge or wisdom. Write an update that anticipates and answers the reader's questions. Or think about what problems you solve for your clients when they purchase and use your product or service and post an update that teaches or shows them how you solve their problems.
Everything you write or send your clients or potential clients, online or offline, should fit into the "Building Relationships" model of G.A.S. Give of your Knowledge, Answer Questions and Solve Problems. Building Relationships is the "New" and only way to market your products or services in the "New Marketing" world. Give it the G.A.S. and you will enjoy new prosperity in your business.

I have atended over 50 seminars, workshops, teleseminars and webinars about Social Media Marketing. Only 2 of them mentioned Social Bookmarking. This reaffirms that there are many so-called "Social Media Marketing Experts" who have no idea what they are talking about!
Social Bookmarking must be an integral part of your social media marketing strategy, if you want to see real results. Social Bookmarking serves multiple purposes; first, it can create real "dofollow" backlinks to your web site. Backlinks are important in increasing your rankings on Google and other search engines.
Second, Social Bookmarking can get you found on Google, Yahoo and Bing because... well, Google won't tell us why, but you will find bookmarked links for your website, YouTube video, blog and other links on Google results. As Nike says, "Just Do It". You will see the results in search engine searches.
Which Social Bookmarks should you use? I recommend, in order of importance, Propeller, Technorati, Digg, StumbleUpon, Delicious and Reddit. Propeller shows up often in search results on Google.
What should you bookmark? Bookmark as much as possible all of your other "Viral" accounts. For example, bookmark your YouTube.com video from your own YouTube.com channel (account). Bookmark your Blog, especially on Technorati.com (make sure that you have "claimed" your blog on Technorati). This is a secret - bookmark your Facebook account and your Twitter account. Get the RSS from Twitter on the RSS icon.
Last but not least, bookmark other people's stuff. If you like an article on someone else's blog, bookmark it on your accounts. Found interesting web sites while searching your subject matter? Bookmark it! You must open accounts in these Social Bookmarking sites in order to bookmark and see results.
Bookmark as often and as much as possible. The more you bookmark, the greater your results! Use SocialMarker.com to make it easier and faster.
Start Social Bookmarking today! Start seeing results today!

Top-Quality Content -- The Key To A Successful AdSense Site
By Joel Comm
Google's got a problem. We've all seen it. We've all had to deal with it. We've all been frustrated by it.
Enter a search term at Google and about a quarter to half of the results on the first page will be garbage. A couple of meaningless paragraphs and plenty of ad units and in-your-face banners.
The SEO is excellent. The content is terrible. And you can be sure the revenues are rock bottom too.
I'm not interested in building sites like that, and no one else should be either. They're a waste of time for the publisher and they're a waste of time for users too.
And they're also completely unnecessary.
Creating top quality content -- the sort that builds loyal users and gets ad clicks -- is easy. You don't have to be a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist to create good articles. And you don't have to write like Hemingway to create Web pages that bring users back.
You just have to write the sort of content that people find interesting. That's all there is to it.
The best judge of whether an article is interesting is you. If you find your content enjoyable to create, there's a good chance that your users will find reading it appealing too.
One of the easiest ways to create interesting content is to write product reviews. Whatever you like to do in your spare time is going to have plenty of products. That's true whether you're playing golf, building home entertainment systems or doing home improvements.
You already know which of those products are the best and which are disappointing.
Write short reviews of the products you own -- or would like to own -- and you'll provide valuable information for users.
And you'll also bring up highly targeted ads.
When you're looking to create a new site rather than pick topics that you know have high-paying ads, pick topics that have high interest for you. You'll be able to create better content, and you'll have more users who will return regularly and give your site a solid base.

Tips For Social Bookmarking
By Karen Thomson
Social Bookmarking sites are extremely fast and easy to join and they can prove to be an extremely useful tool in helping you to spread the word about your business interests and any other content that you have written that is connected to those interests.
Not all bookmarks that you ad will be found by other people and not all of the ones that are found will be bookmarked or highlighted as favourites by other people either but nevertheless, every entry still has the potential power to generate traffic and the search facilities within each bookmarking site will give you a chance of showing up in the results each time a keyword or phrase that you have used is searched for.
Although it can vary from site to site, you will normally have the ability to include a title, short description and string of relevant tags for your entry. The title should be short and straight to the point. These can be factual or simply intriguing in order to draw the reader's attention and the description should pique the interest of the visitor to encourage them to read further. Whatever way you put it all together, think of it as performing the in the same way as a resource box at the foot of an article. You want to get as many people as possible to click through to your product or service by using your link.
However you put it together, your intention is purely to get as many people as possible to click through to your website or the website of your vendor to buy the product or service that you are currently promoting. If they click though and they like what it is you have to show them, they are likely to show their appreciation by bookmarking the site themselves. This will give you a naturally generated increase in ranking within the bookmarking site for that item with the possibility that it will be seen by more and more people.
Tags are essentially the same thing as keywords. You need to ensure that you tag every entry with as many relevant and strong keywords as you can, because they will all increase your entry's chances of being found by other people. There are a number of free online keyword tool sites which will help you to discover which keywords will be the most effective in marketing your particular product or service online.
Some sites limit the amount of tags you may use so just make sure to make use of whatever space you have without repeating yourself. Submit your pages to as many social bookmarking sites as you possibly can find. This will ensure that your chances of being found online increase each day and it helps to create backlinks from other sites to your own. Backlinks are extremely important to generate traffic to your site and helps your search engine rankings climb higher, so do all that you can to bookmark as many pages with as many sites as possible.

Mayan Calendar & December 21, 2012
By George O'Kelly
A long forgotten method of counting the days and seasons in ancient times, the Mayan Calendar has recently re-emerged as a source of fascination, curiosity, controversy and even fear. The primary reason for its re-appearance in the public consciousness is the apparent significance of the impending date of December 21st 2012, seen by many as the day foretold by the Mayans to be Judgement Day, or the day on which the world will end.
The Mayans are an indigenous people of Central America, residing mainly around the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. They were a leading race of people in the early part of this millennium and architectural discoveries show them to be an advanced, cultured and creative people. Their pictorial alphabet and other drawings that survive have been interpreted and much about the Mayans is known prior to the Spanish conquest of Central America.
Among the systems that we now understand from the Mayans was their calendar, which was very advanced and shows an excellent understanding of the movements of the sun, moon and changes in the seasons. It is incredibly accurate, in certain cases even more so that calendar systems that emerged centuries later.
The Mayan Calendar consists of three time periods that could be viewed almost as three dials on the same watch, each relating to a longer time scale. Specifically, the Long Count relates to very long periods of time, covering thousands of years. The Haab covers a period very similar to a standard 365 day year. And the Tzolkin covers approximately a fortnight. Each of these are finite counting systems so at certain times arrive at starting/ finishing points, similar to our New Year's Day or the first day of a new century or millennium.
The Mayans were a superstitious people and the end of one of these cycles, called a Calendar Round, which is approximately every 52 years, was seen as an unlucky time and one during which the Mayans sought to avoid doing anything that might bring disaster or tragedy upon them. It was considered a very unlucky time to be born.
Why December 21st 2012 is now so much in the news and popular discussion is that it represents the starting/ finishing point of an even greater cycle, the Long Count (see above). It is the first time in the history of a calendar system dating back over 5,000 recorded years when the Long Count will return to zero. Some have suggested on this basis that the Mayans are thus forecasting the end of time, or of life as we know it. Can this be true? Only time will tell..

Your advertising and promotion strategy as an internet marketer, should include the new kind of interactive communication online by the use of social media. It is all about engaging actively and 'meeting' with other sociable people regularly even with day to day information (social networking) or highlighting worthwhile articles, videos or websites (social bookmarking) through to accessing forums where visitors share their feelings on a certain issue.
Social media is now a crucial opportunity to promote your blog or website. Your first opportunity is to include a link to your blog in your profile page. Or, notify your online friends of your blog through your messages, but only every now and then. Keep in mind that your network is in point of fact social, so frequent selling will have you 'blocked' or 'uninvited'. Continue your social integrity.
The most well-liked social networking tools are Facebook and Twitter with many people linking them both to save time making entries. There are various other social networking sites such as: FledgeWing which is an entrepreneurial community aimed at worldwide university students; Gogoyoko Fair Play in Music that is a site for musicians and music lovers; Shelfari for booklovers; Yahoo! Answers which is a platform simply for questions and answers.
With over 62 million active members, Facebook is a network that gives an enormous possibility for attaining high rankings. Similarly, when utilised in combination with Twitter, especially Twitter accounts for a specific niche, your sphere of influence can expand exponentially. After you have formed a credible reputation, you can from time to time, recommend a great website or a great article, video or webinar. This is how you draw visitors to your sites.
Social Bookmarking sites including Digg, Technorati, Delicious, Reddit and StumbleUpon (to identify just a few) enable you to share, arrange, search, and handle references to articles, videos or websites. In other words, they are in fact a reference point from which people are directed to the material they may be in search of. Often they are attached with comments or votes of support or disapproval. This is called a 'folksonomy' or social tagging and the benefit to internet marketers is that you are able to make certain your own tagged annotations are keyword-rich and include a URL to your site.
There are two crucial steps to social bookmarking and social networking:
1. Provide a set of links to all of your favourite social sites below your posts to facilitate targeted visitors to also extend the good word of your site's content. Free tools such as Social Twist, make the process fast and simple.
2. Notify your preferred social sites yourself, again using your Social Twist program, when you add a post on your site (be it visual or audio).
Forums are the third form of attracting traffic via social contacts, and should be another of your internet marketing strategies. These encourage people to recognize you as an authority in your subject so you may point them, again only from time to time, to your site.

How to Set Up an Account on Facebook
By Hannah Miller
Posted by Manny Sarmiento - nmx2.com
If you are setting up a Facebook account for the first time, follow these steps and tips to get started:
* Setting up a personal Facebook account
1. Go to facebook.com. You will see a page asking you to either log in or sign up. Fill out the four fields under the Sign Up heading: First Name, Last Name, Your email address, and a password.
* Tip: Many of your friends who are trying to find your profile on Facebook will search for your name, so include the your maiden name, nick name, etc. if you want to make it easy for your old high school friends and colleagues to find you.
* Tip: Put your middle name after a space on the first name field, especially if many people know you by your middle name. Put your maiden name before your last name, using either a hyphen or parentheses.
* Tip: Use an email address to which you will want Facebook updates to be sent. Also, this will be your contact address that friends can see on your profile.
2. Select your gender and date of birth. You need to give your actual date of birth to comply with Facebook guidelines, but if you want to hide that information from your profile, you will have the option to do so later.
3. Click "Sign Up". You will need to type the characters given on the following page to ensure that you are not an automated software program (they can't read the letters in the picture). Click "sign up" again.
4. You now have an account! Now all you need to do is finish your profile and find your friend's profiles and link to them (this is called adding someone as a friend). Facebook will offer to find friends for you, by searching through your email contact list. If they find a Facebook account associated with an email address on your contact list, they'll list the profiles for you so you can add them as friends. To do this, you need to give Facebook your email password that you use to log into your email account to give Facebook access to your email contact list.
If you choose to allow Facebook to find friends for you, type your email password and click "Find Friends." Facebook will not store your password, so you don't have to worry that Facebook will go through your emails.
If you don't want to give your password, or if you don't care to search for friends, just click "skip this step."
5. The next step will ask you to provide your high school, college, and work information to help friends find you. Again you may skip this step if you wish.
6. The next step will ask you to upload a profile picture. You don't have to do this either, and you can load any picture other than one of you if you wish. Again, this will help friends find you when they are searching for people with your name.
7. Now you will be taken to a page with more options. You should be able to navigate through the options fairly easily. You can refer to the help section if you have questions. Be sure to check your email, to confirm your Facebook account and start getting notifications from Facebook! You're ready to start finding and keeping up with friend, load photos, play games, and much more! Start exploring-there's a lot to discover!

It is a good idea to create a professional background for your Twitter page or account for several reasons. First, if you understand good marketing then you know that branding is important to create a memory of your company, or what is appropriately called, Top of Mind Marketing or Top of the Conciousness Level Marketing.
A customized Twitter background lets you keep your brand colors, logo and fonts uniform.
Second, you have an opportunity with a customized Twitter background to deliver your marketing message to anyone ho follows you or visits your Twitter page.
Third, is that you can deliver the perception that you are "professional" or an expert. People buy from "experts" or those who they have built relationships with. Creating the perception of professionalism is a must to increase sales and revenue.
So the question I always get when I am lecturing at one of my Social Media University courses is, what should the size of my background be and how do I create one? There are several recommended sizes for Twitter backgrounds. The one thing that you have to keep in mind is that monitor resolution sizes vary. Therefore your background will not be viewed the same on all pcs. Keeping standard monitor and resolution sizes in mind, here are some standard and recommended Twitter background sizes / dimensions / specifications:
Total Size: 1920px Wide X 1200px Tall or 1024px x 768px (Display Area Tall 600px)
You can also use common screen dimensions such as 1280px x 768px etc
Left Bar: Approximately 200px Wide X 600px Tall
Top Bar Accross: 75px Tall x Total Width Above
There are several lines that display on the right side that can also be used for marketing your business. You must repeat the display at least three times so that it is displayed no matter the size the screen resolution. Sample lines start approximately at 900px, 1100px and 1440px from the left.
Images must be smaller than 800k. GIF, JPG, PNG.
The best tool to design your Twitter background is Photoshop. Here is a link to a free photoshop template that you can use as a guideline to design your own Twitter background:

What is your online business dream?
Do you visualize yourself making piles of cash doing what you love?
Can you imagine heaps of traffic coming to your site and buying your product?
You aren't alone.
Millions of people would like to do the same.
And many of them are very serious about succeeding.
So what would you do to succeed?
I am a huge fan of seminars and conferences. In fact, I recommend people kick off their online business by going to a conference or hands-on workshop. It's the best way to minimize mistakes and maximize your start.
If you were going to a conference, who would you want to learn from?
Imagine this "dream-team" lineup...
What would you pay to receive Internet business instruction from this incredible group of instructors.
I know people would pay thousands to receive advice from these people!
Now imagine this...
All twelve together in one place...
... for two weeks
... with NO pitching any of their products
... with up to two hours of brilliant Internet marketing insight on the topics of branding, copywriting, viral marketing, business building, viral videos, traffic generation, social media and more!
Let's face it. If you missed out on this opportunity for even $2000 you would question your own seriousness about your business.
Now I've got some good news and I've got some bad news.
First, the bad news...
The seminar has already taken place.
And not only can you NOT buy a ticket to this serminar, but you never could!
In fact, NO ONE could buy a ticket to this seminar.
It was INVITATION ONLY.
The twelve contestants for my award-winning reality show, The Next Internet Millionaire, were invited to participate in a closed-door seminar from the brightest and best minds in Internet marketing.
They were treated to hour after hour of actual, practical Internet marketing advice that was invaluable.
No one else got to participate. If you weren't a contestant, you didn't get to listen in.
Now here's the good news...
You are NOW invited to enjoy the very same teaching that the contestants on my show did1
In fact, all twelve sessions have now become available in a new online digital format for INSTANT viewing!
The Secret Classroom

Leverage the Power of LinkedIn to Improve Your Google Ranking
By Luis Olivo
LinkedIn is a network of approximately fifty million business professionals. Most people utilize the LinkedIn network to connect with other professionals and establish business connections. In some ways LinkedIn is similar to Facebook, except LinkedIn is all business and you won't get peppered with Farmville gifts or Mafia Wars loot.
Instead of games, LinkedIn features many different discussion groups with each one focused on a topic. You can join as many groups as you like, participate, connect and network... just remember to keep it professional and get people wanting to know more about you and what you have to offer.
Many professionals use LinkedIn to get connected but don't realize the power of LinkedIn to improve Google ranking. LinkedIn gets decent page ranking in Google. It is a great way to get your name ranked. So when prospects or potential partners Google your name, your information comes up. This gives you control of your name on the web and increases your credibility. You can do this by creating a public profile with full view and also select and create a customized URL with your name. It will also help to utilize your new personalized URL around the web such as in forum signatures, email or in author resource boxes at the end of some of your articles to create back links to your profile and help boost its rank, especially if you have a common name.
Improve Google ranking for your websites such as your blog. LinkedIn allows you to promote three websites. Most people use the default drop down generic categories such as "My Blog", "My Website", "My Company", etc. You can select "other" and customize the name of the link to be more descriptive and include keywords. Make sure your profile is set to full view and you now have customized anchor text pointing to your site from an authoritative website. This helps improve search engine ranking.
While LinkedIn is a great site to network with professionals, if you don't use it to connect, at least utilize the SEO, search engine optimization, value to get your name and website ranking increased with Google and Yahoo.
